Official Statement of ALLATRA International Public Movement. Regarding dissemination of false information and defamatory statements in an article published by the Czech media outlet Seznam Zprávy on February 8, 2026
ALLATRA International Public Movement (ALLATRA IPM) affirms its commitment to the principles of transparency, scientific rigor, and the rule of law. While we respect freedom of speech and the work of journalists, we consider dissemination of false information that damages our organization's reputation and misleads the public to be unacceptable.
On February 8, 2026, the Czech media outlet Seznam Zprávy published an article titled “Europoslanec z ANO chystá akci s proruskou sektou AllatRa” (“Member of the European Parliament from ANO is planning an event with the pro-Russian sect AllatRa”), authored by Kristina Ciroková. The article contains multiple factual errors, manipulative claims, and false allegations that directly contradict official documents, court rulings, and established facts.
The publication ignores the official legal and civic position of ALLATRA International Public Movement, misrepresents the nature of the organization’s research activities, and relies on outdated or debunked narratives originating from disinformation campaigns conducted by third parties.
1. Rebuttal of Allegations Regarding a “Pro-Russian Stance” and Cooperation with Russian Intelligence Agencies
The article’s assertion that ALLATRA IPM is a “pro-Russian organization” or acts in the interests of the Russian Federation is false and unsupported by verifiable facts or documentary evidence. This claim echoes disinformation narratives spread by Russian propaganda against the ALLATRA Movement, aimed at restricting its activities in democratic countries.
Official stance of the ALLATRA Movement regarding Ukraine and Russia’s war against Ukraine. ALLATRA International Public Movement traces its history back to 1995. The Movement’s first official legal entity was registered in 2014 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since 2017, the Movement’s official headquarters have been located in Atlanta, GA, the United States of America.
From the very beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2014, the Movement has been providing consistent support to Ukraine and has contributed to defending its interests internationally. Attempts to attribute a “Russian connection” to an organization that legally originated in Ukraine and is headquartered in the United States constitute a distortion of historical reality.
The Movement maintains an uncompromising stance regarding the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, as reflected in an official statement published on the Movement's website. The ALLATRA Movement unequivocally condemns the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014 and escalated into a full-scale invasion in 2022.
Quote from the official statement: “The ALLATRA Movement supports the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders… strongly condemns war crimes, crimes against humanity, and all other violations of international humanitarian law committed in the course of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine.”
Persecution of the ALLATRA Movement in Russia. In 2023, pursuant to a decision by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, activities of ALLATRA IPM were declared “undesirable” in the territory of the Russian Federation. In 2025, pursuant to a ruling by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, ALLATRA IPM was designated as an extremist organization. Furthermore, ALLATRA’s information resources have been blocked by Roskomnadzor in Russia. Given these facts, the Czech journalist's claim that the organization is a “tool of Russian intelligence agencies” directly contradicts established facts and officially published governmental and court decisions.
Administrative and criminal cases continue to be regularly initiated against former participants of the ALLATRA Movement in Russia, who are subjected to searches, torture, detention, and imprisonment.
Human rights assessment. International human rights organizations, including USCIRF, L’Observatoire international du religieux (OIR), Memorial, and the SOVA Center, have recognized the persecution of ALLATRA in the Russian Federation as a politically motivated violation of freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.
Reasons for persecution of the ALLATRA Movement in Russia. Since 2015, a systematic discrediting campaign has been waged against the Movement under the leadership of RACIRS (the Russian Association of Centers for the Study of Religions and Sects) — an entity affiliated with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) and used as a tool of ideological suppression. The reasons for persecution of the Movement in Russia are of a specific political and ideological nature.
- Independent scientific activities. The Movement openly publishes objective data on critical geodynamic processes and climate threats, the areas of greatest impact of which may be located in the Russian Federation’s territory. It is obvious that Russian authorities are deliberately concealing the scale of this danger from the international community, viewing dissemination of the truth about the region’s real vulnerability as a threat to their geopolitical ambitions and national security.
- Civic stance and support for Ukraine: Since its founding, the Movement has been consistently advocating for Ukraine's interests on the international arena, including key platforms in the United States and Europe. The large-scale information efforts carried out by the organization's participants contribute to strengthening international support for Ukraine. The effectiveness of these activities that bolster Ukraine’s position globally has become a catalyst for the actions of Russian intelligence agencies that, in response, have intensified hybrid mechanisms to discredit ALLATRA in EU countries, including defamation campaigns aimed at neutralizing the Movement's activities.
Emergence of the defamatory narrative. The narrative that the Movement is allegedly a “pro-Russian sect (cult)” has originated in Russian propaganda and has been used in discrediting campaigns as a tool of Russia's hybrid war against Ukraine. It represents a communication strategy known as accusation in a mirror, or mirror tactics, whereby Russia labels its ideological opponents as “Kremlin agents” in the eyes of Western public, seeking, through third parties including European journalists, to undermine an international organization whose activities run counter to the interests of the Russian regime. Today, as the ALLATRA Movement consolidates efforts to support Ukraine and highlight climate and environmental threats, Russia is attempting to block the organization's activities in Europe by spreading defamatory claims through publications that are not based on verifiable sources.
2. Rebuttal of Allegations Regarding a “Criminal Organization” and the Status of Criminal and Administrative Proceedings Related to the ALLATRA Movement in Ukraine
There are no legally binding court rulings that recognize ALLATRA International Public Movement as a criminal organization within Ukraine or the European Union. The only country in the world that has officially banned ALLATRA’s activities is Russia.
In 2025, during the hearing of an administrative case involving an attempt to ban the ALLATRA Movement in Ukraine, the court officially rejected the key “expert opinion” issued by the Center for Economic and Legal Research and authored by I. Kremenovska, which had served as a basis for the claim. The court ruled that the expert opinion constituted inadmissible evidence for the following reasons:
- Bias. The expert “has a negative attitude toward the defendant and is an interested party” openly declaring her own fight against the organization, which legally deprives the expert of independent status.
- Plagiarism and falsification. The so-called “scientific findings” are not based on the expert’s own research, but on borrowed materials that “in certain parts, are identical to publications publicly available on the Internet.”
- Legal violations. The experts violated procedural requirements by independently collecting materials for analysis.
A quote from the court ruling regarding the “expert opinions”: “The materials do not contain specific and objectively convincing conclusions based on proper and admissible evidence of unlawful activity... and the court finds no grounds to accept them as evidence.”
Furthermore, within the aforementioned case, a report issued by the State Enterprise “Center of Competence of the Internet Address Space,” dated May 16, 2024, No. 150/2024-ZV, was presented regarding the documentation and expert assessment of the content of ALLATRA web pages. The report materials confirm ALLATRA’s patriotic activities in Ukraine.
Inadmissibility of the criminal evidence base. The criminal proceedings initiated against ALLATRA participants in Ukraine, referenced by the author of the article published in the Czech media outlet Seznam Zprávy, are based on the same set of “expert opinions” that the court has already found inadmissible in the aforementioned administrative case against the ALLATRA Movement. Since the court has already established the inadmissibility, bias, and plagiarized nature of these documents, the entire evidentiary basis for the accusation is legally inadmissible. The mere fact that an appeal has been filed in the administrative case, which currently remains pending, does not alter the legal assessment regarding the evidence inadmissibility. An accusation cannot be considered lawful if it is predicated on evidence that has been judicially defined as inadmissible.
It is noteworthy that the “expert opinions” used against ALLATRA, which were subsequently recognized by the Kyiv District Administrative Court as inadmissible evidence, contain defamatory claims against the Movement that were previously disseminated as part of disinformation campaigns conducted by Russian propaganda. Similar claims and, in some cases, word-for-word identical statements, have also been reproduced in foreign publications that defame ALLATRA’s reputation and rely on unverifiable sources.
Recognition of the ALLATRA Movement as an injured party. On February 2, 2026, the National Police of Ukraine officially recognized the ALLATRA International Public Movement (ALLATRA IPM) as an injured party. The National Police identified elements of a criminal offense committed against the ALLATRA Movement by third parties, which are classified as “obstruction of the lawful activities of a non-governmental organization” (Article 170 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Thus, within Ukraine's legal framework, the Movement does not constitute a “criminal organization,” but is recognized as an entity whose legal rights have been violated, i.e. it holds the status of an injured party rather than an accused party.
In the European legal system, a court is the sole authority with the power to determine whether an individual or an organization is guilty of an offense. To date, there are no legally binding court rulings in either Ukraine or the EU member states that would establish the organization's involvement in unlawful activities.
The use of the term ‘criminal organization” (zločinecká organizace) in an assertive form in the Seznam Zprávy article, even when citing investigative authorities or third parties, regarding an organization for which no court rulings establishing its guilt exist, constitutes a gross violation of the fundamental legal principle of the presumption of innocence as guaranteed by Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 48 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
The purpose of such a substitution of concepts is clearly to artificially criminalize the organization's image in the eyes of the public by circumventing the judicial process, which contradicts the principles of a democratic state governed by the rule of law. Attempts to stigmatize and dehumanize participants of the ALLATRA Movement in democratic countries objectively serve the interests of the Russian Federation, as they undermine activities of the Movement that is acting for the benefit of Ukraine and has been banned and subjected to persecution in Russia.
3. Inadmissibility of Stigmatizing Terminology and Dissemination of Russian Narratives
We absolutely reject the use of the terms “sect” and “cult” in reference to ALLATRA IPM and regard it as a manifestation of discrimination and violation of professional journalistic ethics.
Tool of dehumanization and social segregation. From a sociological and human rights perspective, the terms “sect” and “cult” in the modern media landscape is a tool of dehumanization. Its purpose is to artificially separate members of a group from society, depriving them of their agency and civil rights, and creating a perception of an “enemy” or “outsider.” Labeling a group in such a manner serves as grounds for social isolation and justification of persecution, which directly contradicts the provisions of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
Russian origin of the persecution methodology. While the words “sect” and “cult” exist in many languages, the mechanism of their political instrumentalization as weapons for destruction of non-governmental organizations has been significantly refined and implemented in the Russian Federation under the leadership of the Russian Association of Centers for the Study of Religions and Sects (RACIRS) that is closely affiliated with the FSB. It was exactly RACIRS that pioneered a methodology whereby any independent organization is first labeled a “sect” or a “cult” (without any legal basis), followed by demonization of its participants in mass media, thereby paving the way for prohibition of the organization’s activities and criminal prosecution of its members. This very scenario was executed in Russia against ALLATRA IPM: from a media campaign using the “sect” and “cult” labels to designation of the Movement as “undesirable” and later as “extremist.”
Anti-European approach and adherence to Russian propaganda guidelines. The use of the stigmatizing terms “sect” and “cult” in European media in reference to a public organization can be viewed not merely as a lexical choice, but as a transmission of the Russian model for suppressing civil society. In the legal frameworks of both Ukraine and the European Union, the terms “sect” and “cult” do not exist as legal categories. Consequently, the use of stigmatizing rhetoric characteristic of Russian propaganda by the article author in Seznam Zprávy may be interpreted as a promotion of a Russian-style discrediting and stigmatization model targeting civil society initiatives, which is incompatible with the principles of non-discrimination and respect for freedom of association. This approach demonstrates an anti-European orientation and calls into question the independence of the media outlet’s editorial policy from Russian ideological narratives.
4. Rebuttal of the “Security Threat” Allegation and Confirmed Facts of International Cooperation and Recognition
In the Seznam Zprávy article, the ALLATRA Movement’s activities are portrayed as a “security risk.” However, the organization’s actual activities demonstrate the opposite, namely its systematic efforts aimed at protecting public safety, analyzing global risks, and cooperating with international institutions to develop joint solutions for the benefit of society.
The activities of ALLATRA IPM are humanitarian, scientific, and educational in nature, as evidenced by the organization's effective involvement in international initiatives, collaboration with the scientific community, and cooperation with governmental and intergovernmental bodies.
The Vatican. The organization received the Apostolic Blessing of His Holiness Pope Francis and the Apostolic Blessing of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for its contributions to environmental protection. The ALLATRA President Maryna Ovtsynova personally presented the report “Nanoplastics in the Biosphere: From Molecular Impact to Planetary Crisis” to the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The United Nations and Climate Summits. Representatives of the Movement are official participants in United Nations Climate Change Conferences including COP29 (Azerbaijan), COP16 (Colombia and Saudi Arabia), and COP30 (Brazil).
Cooperation with the Bolivian government. The Movement officially cooperates with the Vice-Ministry of Civil Defense of Bolivia, including conducting seminars for the Bolivian Armed Forces on responding to climate threats.
United States. The Movement actively engages with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) and participates in events on Capitol Hill as part of the Spiritual Diplomacy global human rights initiative.
Organization of Events on Capitol Hill and in Washington, D.C.
On January 22, 2026, the ALLATRA International Public Movement hosted an international interfaith conference “United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats,” held under the leadership of Pastor Mark Burns as part of the Spiritual Diplomats initiative. A special video address by the U.S. President Donald J. Trump was presented at the conference. Among the speakers were current Members of the U.S. Congress (Gus M. Bilirakis, Joe Wilson, and Mark Harris), as well as other leaders of the public, political, governmental, and religious sectors from various countries.
On February 5, 2026, an international conference titled “Freedom Has a Name and It's Called Ukraine” was held on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., hosted by ALLATRA IPM and led by Pastor Mark Burns. The event served as a significant platform for expressing powerful support for Ukraine by American, Ukrainian, and international representatives. Participants included Christopher Anderson, representative of the U.S. Department of State; Gary Tabach, retired Captain of the U.S. Navy; Moshe Reuven Azman, Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine; members of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iuliia Iatsyk and Pavlo Frolov, and other prominent civil society leaders.
5. Status of the Movement Participant Igor Danilov and Rebuttal of the “Hiding” Allegations
The Seznam Zprávy article refers to ALLATRA participant Igor Danilov, using a wording that he is allegedly “hiding in Slovakia after fleeing Ukraine,” which is false and constitutes a violation of the fundamental legal principle of the presumption of innocence.
Legal residence status. Igor Danilov currently resides in the European Union (the Slovak Republic) on entirely legal grounds. He crossed the border legally in 2022 and is not hiding from law enforcement authorities. His whereabouts are known to migration and law enforcement agencies, fully precluding the use of such wording as “hiding” or “fled” in reference to him.
The criminal proceedings initiated against him in Ukraine, which are partly based on the aforementioned discredited “expert reports,” are currently at the pretrial investigation stage. Igor Danilov’s legal representatives are cooperating with investigators according to procedures established by law to demonstrate the absence of criminal liability.
Journalistic manipulation. The use of judgmental terminology such as “fled” and “hiding” by the Seznam Zprávy journalist, instead of the legally accurate phrase “is residing abroad,” is intended to create a misleading impression of criminal conduct in a reader’s mind for stigmatizing and dehumanizing the individual.
6. Case of Jakub Jahl and Tanzanian Jurisdiction
Assertions in the Seznam Zprávy publication that the allegations against Jakub Jahl are “fictitious” based solely on the opinion of the Czech police are legally unfounded and demonstrate disregard for the sovereignty of Tanzania and the rights of its citizens.
Primacy of Tanzanian jurisdiction. The offenses attributed to Jakub Jahl are alleged to have occurred within the territory of Tanzania. In accordance with international law, Tanzanian law enforcement agencies hold exclusive jurisdiction over the investigation of such offenses. The official investigation is currently ongoing there. Any attempt by the Czech police to issue conclusions regarding events in another country without conducting investigative actions in the territory where the alleged offense occurred constitutes a violation of the principle of procedural objectivity.
Evidence base. Within the framework of investigative journalism, in relation to the said Czech citizen, testimonies from more than 30 witnesses have been collected, including Tanzanian nationals (both adults and minors) as well as Czech and Slovak citizens. An approach, whereby the conclusions of Czech law enforcement who did not interview the witnesses are given greater weight than the testimonies of direct eyewitnesses and victims and the investigative actions of Tanzanian authorities, constitutes disregard for the principle of the equal probative value of evidence and may be viewed as a manifestation of a colonial approach to justice — a practice where assessments of European institutions are considered a priori more credible than investigations performed by competent authorities of the country where the alleged offense occurred.
International oversight. According to open sources, His Excellency Lazaro Nyalandu, Advisor on Diplomacy to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and former Tanzanian Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, has repeatedly made public statements confirming that the Jakub Jahl case is under active investigation and official jurisdiction of Tanzanian authorities. He emphasized that the Tanzanian government is firmly committed to ending abuses against African children and ensuring their comprehensive legal protection, regardless of any external attempts to exert pressure.
The Spiritual Diplomats global initiative has also joined monitoring of the investigation. Its chairman Pastor Mark Burns who serves as a spiritual advisor to the U.S. President Donald Trump is actively contributing to raising international awareness of the case. The goal of this initiative is to ensure the objectivity of the investigation where the priority must be not the interests of European citizens seeking to avoid legal liability, but rather the protection of the rights and dignity of African children.
7. Attempts to Discredit Scientific Activities of ALLATRA International Public Movement and the Problem of Harm Caused by Nanoplastics
The attempt by the author of the Seznam Zprávy article to discredit the scientific agenda of the conference on the dangers of nanoplastics to be held at the European Parliament, titled “Nanoplastics: Hidden Connections and Emerging Risks,” and to portray interaction with Members of the European Parliament as “recruitment” (“zlákat”), constitutes a manipulative misrepresentation.
The co-organizer of this event is the ALLATRA Global Research Center (ALLATRA GRC), an independent analytical and scientific research think tank headquartered in the United States and operating under the U.S. jurisdiction. The center specializes in interdisciplinary research of global risks including climatic, geodynamic, and environmental threats. Its activities are aimed at preparing analytical reports and recommendations for the international scientific community, government authorities, and supranational institutions. The center’s work is based on the principles of open science and open data and aimed at identifying sustainable solutions for global security.
Scientific foundation. The scientific foundation of the conference is a comprehensive analytical report titled “Nanoplastics in the Biosphere: From Molecular Impact to Planetary Crisis” (2025). The report has been peer-reviewed by the Center for Research in Exact Sciences and Engineering (CICEI) at the Bolivian Catholic University San Pablo (Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo) and received a positive assessment from the Department of Research, Science and Technology (DICyT) of the Juan Misael Saracho Autonomous University (UAJMS). The document contains over 300 references to peer-reviewed scientific sources.
International assessment. Research findings of the ALLATRA Global Research Center in the fields of climate and nanoplastics have already been presented at the highest international level, including at the 29th and 30th Sessions of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29 in Azerbaijan and COP30 in Brazil), and have also received formal recognition during official audiences at the Vatican.
Legitimate advocacy. The engagement of ALLATRA International Public Movement as a non-profit and non-governmental organization with Members of the European Parliament constitutes an integral and legitimate part of the democratic process within the European Union.
The ALLATRA Global Research Center is officially registered in the EU Transparency Register under registration number REG 1148853102055-15.
ALLATRA IPM cooperates with Members of the European Parliament, Ondřej Knotek and others, based on the alignment of shared public interest priorities including those in the fields of environmental protection, climate policy, public health, and security. Such engagement is consistent with established democratic principles governing civil society participation. The characterization of such engagement as “recruitment” is unsupported by evidence, subjective in nature, distorts the factual circumstances, and constitutes a form of journalistic manipulation.
Interactions between non-governmental organizations and Members of the European Parliament are fully consistent with the principles of civil society participation in the democratic process, as enshrined in Article 11 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU).
8. Status of Dr. Egon Cholakian and Freedom of Scientific Discourse
The Seznam Zprávy article contains attempts to discredit American scientist Dr. Egon Cholakian through selective quotation and distortion of the context of his public statements. In this regard, we deem it necessary to clarify his professional status and position.
Professional qualifications. Dr. Egon Cholakian is a recognized expert in national security, having professional experience of cooperating with administrations of four U.S. Presidents. He possesses recognized expertise in the analysis of global threats.
Independent status. It is essential to emphasize that Dr. Cholakian is not a staff member or an official representative of the ALLATRA Global Research Center which is the co-organizer of the aforesaid conference. Consequently, his public statements, communication style, and individual assessments constitute an exercise of his right to freedom of speech and expression and cannot automatically be interpreted as representing the Movement’s official stance.
Response to criticism. Dr. Egon Cholakian published an official statement responding to criticism of his public speeches and clarifying the context of those. He noted that he possesses a professional understanding of the scientific realities of nanoplastic research and explained that his choice of expressive metaphors was intended as a communication tool to illustrate the problem scale and potential consequences for the health of future generations. He emphasized that attempts to discredit him based on stylistic features of his speech serve to distract from substantive discussion of the issue.
9. Rebuttal of Allegations Regarding the Use of “Bot Farms”
The assertion in the Seznam Zprávy article that the Movement allegedly uses specialized software to manipulate public opinion is false. All official resources, websites, and social media accounts of the Movement are listed exclusively on its official website www.allatra.org. Any third-party programs or websites not included in this list are in no way affiliated with the Movement.
The high level of activity among the Movement participants on online platforms and social media is a result of the voluntary efforts of thousands of real individuals from more than 180 countries worldwide rather than the operation of so-called bot farms. Attempts to portray the genuine activity of civil society as a “bot farm activity” constitute an unfounded attempt to discredit the voluntary civic engagement of real participants.
10. Literary Works and the Movement’s Official Standpoint
The allegation in the Seznam Zprávy article that ALLATRA International Public Movement allegedly “promoted ideas” through “The Crossroads” book, where one of the characters is claimed to “unite Slavic peoples and subsequently save all of humanity” and his biography allegedly “closely resembles that of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” constitutes a false and deliberately manipulative statement.
Legal status and chronology. ALLATRA IPM was officially registered in 2014, and since 2017, the organization's headquarters have been located in the United States. The book referenced by the article author was written by a private individual long before the Movement establishment. Neither the aforementioned book nor any other works of fiction are or have ever been constituent, programmatic, or official documents of ALLATRA IPM, nor have they defined or do they define its activities. The Movement has never disseminated nor does it disseminate the ideas contained in this literary work.
Attributing to a modern international volunteer organization the dissemination of ideas from fictional or journalistic texts that are entirely unrelated to its activities and were created in a different context and at a different time constitutes a substitution of the subject of analysis, replacing the organization’s actual activities with an interpretation of extraneous materials. This creates a false causal relationship and constitutes a manipulative substitution of the subject, thereby misleading readers: instead of providing an objective assessment of the Movement's actual activities, unrelated texts are artificially brought to the forefront and presented as the topic of discussion.
According to the official statement (section “On the Principle of Autonomy”), the Movement’s official standpoint is solely expressed in documents and statements published directly on its official website allatra.org. No books or fictional characters are mentioned in the Movement’s constituent documents or official agenda. The Movement engages in climate, geodynamic and environmental research as well as in the protection of human rights, and does not disseminate literary fiction or political myths.
It is also important to note that one of the works by the author of the aforementioned fictional book has been officially included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials in the Russian Federation. If the author were truly promoting the interests of the Kremlin, would any of her books have been designated as extremist material in Russia? This fact represents further compelling evidence of the unfounded nature of such allegations.
Attitude to third-party content. As declared in the Movement's official statement, “any books, articles, videos… or initiatives by individuals — even if they associate themselves, or are associated by others, with the ALLATRA Movement — cannot automatically be considered as reflecting the official position, ideology, or activities of the Movement.” We respect freedom of creative expression, but resolutely reject any attempts to use fictional works and their subjective interpretations to discredit our international scientific and humanitarian activities.
11. Manipulative Use of Scientific and Humanitarian Agendas by Seznam Zprávy Journalist for Political Purposes
ALLATRA International Public Movement is compelled to state that the publication in Seznam Zprávy contains features of a politically motivated attack where our organization is used solely as a tool in the domestic political fight within the Czech Republic.
An analysis of the editorial policy of Seznam Zprávy and specifically the works of its author, Kristina Ciroková, clearly demonstrates a pattern of bias against the Czech political movement ANO and its leadership. It appears that the primary purpose of the publication is not to provide objective coverage of the activities of ALLATRA International Public Movement, but rather to discredit certain ANO-affiliated Members of the European Parliament by orchestrating artificial scandals around their public-interest initiatives.
We find it unacceptable when a global humanitarian and scientific agenda, including issues related to climate, environmental protection, micro- and nanoplastics, becomes a tool of local political games and a journalist’s personal bias toward specific political actors. Such instrumentalization of independent civil society violates the principles of journalistic impartiality and undermines not only the reputation of our organization, but also the quality of public discourse in Europe.
12. Motivation and Mission of the Conference at the European Parliament
The convening of the conference “Nanoplastics: Hidden Connections and Emerging Risks” at the European Parliament is driven by the need to draw attention to the growing amount of scientific data on the presence of micro- and nanoplastics in the biosphere and their potential effects on human health and ecosystems.
Current scientific studies indicate that micro- and nanoplastics have already been detected in natural ecosystems, food chains, and human tissues. Those findings raise serious concerns within the scientific community and necessitate further interdisciplinary research into their potential long-term consequences for human health, the environment, and sustainable development.
The initiative to convene the conference is of a civic, scientific, and educational nature. The involvement of volunteers of ALLATRA International Public Movement, experts, and representatives of civil society is voluntary and free from any political or commercial motivation. The purpose of the event is to inform the public about the potential dangers of micro- and nanoplastic pollution and the true scale of the threat it poses to environmental security and public health.
Conclusion
ALLATRA International Public Movement regards the article published by Seznam Zprávy as a compilation of previously debunked rumors, Russian propaganda narratives, and manipulative allegations.
We call upon mass media and the public to rely on official documents and facts rather than speculative claims. The convening of the conference at the European Parliament dedicated to the issue of nanoplastics is a necessary step to bring this real environmental threat to the attention of legislators. Attempts by certain Czech journalists to politicize this event run counter to the interests of European security and public health.
The discrediting of independent scientific and civic initiatives undermines the trust necessary for cooperation between society, the scientific community, and government authorities. In the context of global environmental and technological risks, this directly diminishes society’s capacity to respond effectively to threats to health, security, and the environment.
