ALLATRA es una organización internacional sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a la concienciación pública, la investigación y la educación sobre los riesgos climáticos y geodinámicos, los problemas medioambientales, incluida la contaminación por micro- y nanoplásticos, así como a la protección de los derechos humanos y las libertades fundamentales.

ALLATRA opera a nivel mundial a través de grupos locales de voluntarios. Su labor se articula en torno a tres áreas principales: la investigación científica, la defensa de los derechos humanos y la labor educativa.

En distintos países e idiomas, los participantes de ALLATRA conectan a científicos, instituciones públicas, representantes de la sociedad civil y comunidades locales. Elaboramos informes analíticos, organizamos conferencias, sesiones informativas, seminarios, proyecciones públicas y talleres de expertos, transformamos riesgos globales complejos en recursos claros y accesibles para el público y para los responsables de la toma de decisiones.

ALLATRA también produce contenidos educativos de alta calidad, entre ellos documentales, videopódcasts, entrevistas, actualizaciones climáticas, cobertura de acontecimientos de relevancia social y contenido multilingüe para redes sociales dirigido a una amplia audiencia internacional.

El Centro Global de Investigación ALLATRA ha publicado el informe analítico «Nanoplásticos. Análisis sistémico de riesgos para la salud humana, los ecosistemas y el medio ambiente», disponible bajo licencia CC BY 4.0 y con el DOI: https://doi.org/10.65849/agrc.report.mnp.2026.04001. El informe está dirigido a la comunidad científica, las autoridades reguladoras, las instituciones responsables de la formulación de políticas y el público en general.

Sus conclusiones fueron presentadas en el Parlamento Europeo durante la conferencia «Micro- y nanoplásticos en la biosfera: impacto en la salud humana y el clima planetario», que reunió a científicos y responsables políticos de la UE para abordar los posibles riesgos para la salud y los impactos medioambientales de los micro- y nanoplásticos.

ALLATRA aborda los riesgos climáticos, medioambientales y relacionados con los derechos humanos mediante la cooperación con instituciones internacionales y socios nacionales.

En la COP29 de Bakú, la COP30 de Belém, la COP16 de Colombia y la COP16 de Arabia Saudita, los representantes de ALLATRA presentaron evaluaciones climáticas de expertos y mantuvieron reuniones con funcionarios gubernamentales y representantes de organismos internacionales.

En Bolivia, ALLATRA estableció cooperación científica con el Viceministerio de Defensa Civil, la Universidad Católica Boliviana «San Pablo» y el Observatorio San Calixto, centrada en los riesgos de desastres naturales, el monitoreo geodinámico y el apoyo de asesoramiento científico.

En las plataformas de la OSCE en Viena (18 de mayo de 2026 y 30 de junio de 2026) y Varsovia (2025), los representantes de ALLATRA participaron en sesiones y organizaron eventos paralelos sobre la resiliencia democrática y las amenazas al pluralismo y la democracia.

ALLATRA coorganizó la Conferencia Interreligiosa Internacional «Unidos en la libertad: el auge de los diplomáticos espirituales» en el complejo del Capitolio de los Estados Unidos, en Washington D. C. (2026). La conferencia tuvo como objetivo reunir a líderes religiosos, legisladores y representantes de la sociedad civil para reforzar las libertades fundamentales, los valores democráticos y la protección de la infancia.

La labor educativa de ALLATRA abarca la producción de documentales, talleres con expertos, seminarios, conferencias, sesiones informativas y foros internacionales.

El Centro Global de Investigación ALLATRA produjo el documental «Nanoplásticos. Una amenaza para la vida», que fue proyectado internacionalmente, incluso en Estados Unidos, Alemania, América Latina y otras regiones, y recibió reconocimientos en varios festivales internacionales de cine.

At the international summit ChangeNOW in Paris in 2026, ALLATRA GRC led the expert workshop "Nanoplastics: The Invisible Threat and Global Risk: What Can We Do?"

ALLATRA led events on micro- and nanoplastic awareness and their impact on health and the environment at Civic Hall in Manhattan (October 24 and December 9, 2025, and on March 27 and April 23, 2026), the Georgia State Capitol (June, 2025), Bay Atlantic University in Washington, D.C. (May 20, 2025), in Tunisia (from December 10 to 16, 2025), including at the Arab University of Sciences, the National Center for Research in Materials Science, in Tirana (Albania) (from October 24 to 26, 2025) at the 22nd Annual European and Middle East Women's Leadership Conference, at Assisi Pax International Assembly in Assisi (Italy) (June 27, 2026), as well as at other venues.

In Bolivia, ALLATRA co-organized a four-day seminar with the Vice Ministry of Civil Defense on national security and civil defense strategies under climate stress, which brought together military leaders, emergency response units, and scientists and concluded on April 23, 2025. ALLATRA also participated in the Climate Governance Forum at the Bolivian Catholic University "San Pablo" in March 2025, along with government officials, scientists, and industry leaders.

ALLATRA participated as a key partner in the scientific event Water in Bolivia: Science, Innovation and Alliances for Sustainable Futures, held at the Bolivian Catholic University "San Pablo" from May 4 to 7, 2026, where ALLATRA GRC Chief Scientist, Dr. John Ahn, delivered a plenary presentation on nanoplastics and water security.

On the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, October 13, 2025, ALLATRA and the Society of Jesus in Bolivia signed a strategic alliance to strengthen scientific and ethical collaboration in the areas of planetary care and sustainable development.

ALLATRA's Chief Scientist, Dr. John Ahn, took the TEDxStLouis stage on May 30, 2026, to deliver his talk, "Too Small to See, Too Dangerous to Ignore: Micro- and Nanoplastics," addressing the growing health and environmental concerns associated with these particles.

On Capitol Hill on September 30, 2025, ALLATRA convened a U.S. Congressional Briefing on Cognitive Warfare at the Rayburn House Office Building, examining disinformation and information-terrorism as hybrid warfare tools.

At the UN Social Forum 2025 in Geneva on October 30, 2025, ALLATRA's human rights expert addressed the impact of the climate crisis on children's rights and the importance of integrating disaster preparedness into education.

ALLATRA also co-hosted the conference "Freedom Has a Name, and It's Called Ukraine" at the U.S. Capitol on February 5, 2026, in support of Ukraine's sovereignty, abducted children, and Russian accountability for war crimes.

ALLATRA Italy Took Part in the National Congress on Dignity, Labor, and Social Rehabilitation of Convicts in Milan on January 12, 2026.

ALLATRA Israel and ALLATRA President Maryna Ovtsynova participated in the Shabtai Shavit World Summit on Counter-Terrorism 2025 at Reichman University in Herzliya, September 18, 2025.

ALLATRA Sweden took part in the Forum for Human Rights 2025 in Stockholm on December 9–10, 2025.

ALLATRA Australia participated in Plastics2026 – A Global Symposium on Plastics and Human Health in Brisbane, Australia, on March 1–4, 2026.

Pope Francis granted ALLATRA an Apostolic Blessing in December 2024 in support of its work for environmental protection and the preservation of creation. Pope Leo XIV later granted an Apostolic Blessing to ALLATRA President Maryna Ovtsynova and to ALLATRA volunteers in July 2025.

The Vice Ministry of Civil Defense of Bolivia issued an official letter of appreciation to ALLATRA for its contribution to a high-level seminar for public servants, technical personnel, and senior officers, recognizing ALLATRA's contribution to strengthening technical capacity.

At the Assisi Pax International Assembly, ALLATRA representatives received the jubilee medal "In Service of Peace", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Assisi Pax International.

ALLATRA's documentary "Nanoplastics. Threat to Life" received awards at several international film festivals, including the Mannheim Arts and Film Festival, the Latitude Film Awards, the London Independent Film Awards, the Titan International Film Festival, and the Nature Without Borders International Film Festival.

In September 2024, ALLATRA was invited to meet with representatives of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and presented an analytical report on anti-cult organizations and their impact on religious freedom and civil society.

The core reason for ALLATRA's ban in Russia was its independence and ability to build public trust.

Over time, this led to the emergence of an independent civic network with its own audience, communication channels, and international connections, a structure that operated outside the Russian state's control.

• Beginning in 2015, Russian authorities, through government-controlled expert bodies and state-aligned media, launched a sustained campaign to portray ALLATRA as an "extremist" organization. The objective was to marginalize the organization and undermine public trust in it, both within Russia and internationally.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has noted in its 2020 report that Russian authorities use such rhetoric as a tool of repression to justify judicial persecution and dismantle independent organizations.

Over time, the Kremlin's rhetoric escalated, portraying ALLATRA as hostile to Russia.

Despite being a non-political and non-religious organization, ALLATRA has consistently supported Ukraine and condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

In August 2023, Russia's Prosecutor General's Office designated ALLATRA "undesirable". The Russian legal status "undesirable organization" is used to designate foreign or international NGOs whose activities are deemed undesirable on Russian territory.

The campaign continued to escalate in the years that followed.

• In 2024, Russian authorities blocked the entire Rumble platform. Rumble's CEO stated that the block resulted from the platform's refusal to remove the ALLATRA TV channel, while emphasizing that the channel's content complied with Rumble's policies.

• On June 24, 2025, Russia's Supreme Court designated ALLATRA an "extremist" organization, banning its activities nationwide. Russian authorities subsequently carried out home searches, coercive interrogations, raids, and acts of torture targeting former participants.

Russia is the only country to have banned ALLATRA. This ban turned the Russian case into an example of how stigmatization, censorship, "undesirable organization" laws, and extremism labels can be deployed by an authoritarian state to eliminate independent civic initiatives. ALLATRA continues its activities outside Russia, including through its U.S.-based research center, focusing on science, human rights, and open civic dialogue.

Even after ALLATRA was banned in Russia, Russian state-aligned media have continued to publish materials portraying the organization as "pseudo-scientific." The purpose is to undermine public trust in ALLATRA's climate research and scientific work, particularly as its research and initiatives continue to gain international attention.

These disinformation narratives have not remained confined to Russia. Russian-origin allegations have spread into European and international media. At the same time, allegations that Ukrainian courts and the European Parliament's Quaestors found to be unsupported have also been repeated in international publications. As a result, the same refuted narratives continue to circulate under different media brands, creating the false appearance of independent confirmation.

A significant portion of the negative content about ALLATRA circulating online can be traced to Russian sources. The organization therefore urges journalists, researchers, and publishers to verify the origin of the information they rely on. Repeating narratives originally developed by the Russian state apparatus as part of its campaign against civil society contributes to the spread of Russian disinformation internationally.

In Ukraine, allegations concerning ALLATRA were submitted to state authorities and examined through official legal proceedings. The source and channels through which these allegations were introduced into Ukraine remain under investigation. As noted by EU Reporter, one possible explanation is the activity of pro-Russian influence networks operating within Ukrainian institutions, mirroring Russian accusations and seeking to discredit independent civic organizations from within.

Accordingly, ALLATRA remains a legally operating public association in Ukraine. It has not been banned or otherwise prohibited by the Ukrainian courts.

Similarly, on February 2, 2026, the National Police of Ukraine recognized ALLATRA as an injured legal entity in criminal proceedings concerning obstruction of the lawful activities of a non-governmental organization under Article 170 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This status confirms that, within those proceedings, ALLATRA is treated as an entity whose rights and lawful interests were violated.

ALLATRA supports Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, and unequivocally condemns Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and violations of international humanitarian law.

ALLATRA and ALLATRA Global Research Center actively participate in European civic and institutional forums, including the European Parliament and OSCE human-dimension platforms. ALLATRA Global Research Center is registered in the EU Transparency Register under registration number REG 1148853102055-15.

In February 2026, the ALLATRA Global Research Center participated in the event Nanoplastics: Hidden Connections And Emerging Risks, held at the European Parliament and organized by a Member of the European Parliament in cooperation with the Center. Following the event, three Members of the European Parliament from political groups opposed to the organizing MEP's group submitted a complaint alleging that the ALLATRA Global Research Center had promoted pro-Russian narratives and maintained links to Russian disinformation networks.

On April 29, 2026, after reviewing the information gathered by Parliament's services, the European Parliament's Quaestors found no "conclusive and unequivocal elements" supporting those allegations and concluded that there were insufficient grounds to open an investigation. The review found no substantiated link between ALLATRA GRC and pro-Russian narratives, Russian disinformation networks, or hostile influence activities.
