Congressman Steny Hoyer represents Maryland’s Fifth District and is one of the most experienced leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he has served for more than 42 years. As a former Majority Leader and head of the Democratic Caucus, he has helped shape key legislation on fiscal responsibility, disability rights, and election reform.

A champion of American workers, he has helped create and preserve nearly 23,000 jobs in Maryland, supporting facilities such as NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Naval Air Station Patuxent River. He has also championed environmental protection, including the Chesapeake Bay, and secured funding for transportation, law enforcement, and community safety.

On the international stage, as former chairman of the Helsinki Commission, Congressman Hoyer has championed human rights and democracy around the world. He has visited Ukraine since 1987—nearly 40 years—and has been a staunch defender of the country against Russian aggression, promoting U.S. aid and strengthening alliances.

A graduate of the University of Maryland and Georgetown University School of Law, Congressman Hoyer’s commitment to public service began in the Maryland Senate at the age of 27. Today, he continues working for a safe and prosperous America.
