Representatives of the ALLATRA IPM and the Creative Society project participated in the UN conference in Vienna “Sustainable Peace Begins Now - with Education”

Vienna, August 7, 2025 — Representatives of the ALLATRA IPM and the Creative Society project took part in the international conference “Sustainable Peace Starts Now with Education”, held at the United Nations Office in Vienna. The forum was organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and brought together diplomats, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, educators, and youth leaders to discuss the role of education, inclusion, and youth engagement in building a sustainable and peaceful future.
During the event, representatives of ALLATRA IPM and the Creative Society actively participated in discussions, addressing key topics such as the protection of freedom and democracy, the urgent need for global unity in the face of escalating environmental and climate challenges. These issues were discussed with diplomats, UN officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and civil society, fostering constructive dialogue and identifying possible directions for joint action.
Among the speakers at the conference organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace were:
- H.E. Mr. Jose Antonio Zabalgoitia Trejo, Ambassador of Mexico to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna;
- Jean-Luc Lemahieu, former Director of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs at UNODC (2013–2024), expert in international law and conflict-affected regions;
- Mag. Caroline Hungerländer, Managing Director of the Institute for Environment, Peace and Development and Member of the Vienna City Council;
- H.E. Fatou Angelique Bessin, Second Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Burkina Faso to the UN in Vienna, advocate for gender equality and sustainable development;
- Ms. Paloma Munne, UNODC Youth Mainstreaming and Inter-Agency Affairs Specialist, promoting youth empowerment in UN initiatives.
The conference addressed the following key areas:
- Education as the foundation for sustainable peace and social cohesion;
- Intercultural dialogue as a tool for conflict prevention;
- Gender equality and accessibility of education;
- Youth participation in decision-making processes;
- International cooperation in addressing global challenges, including climate and environmental threats.
Young delegates from Israel also participated in the conference, sharing their experiences in debates, UN simulations, and intercultural projects. They emphasized that active youth engagement enriches public dialogue and contributes to finding fresh and constructive solutions for the future.
Representatives of ALLATRA IPM and the Creative Society exchanged ideas and experiences with other participants, discussing the potential of joint initiatives and concrete steps for their implementation. The meeting’s open and friendly atmosphere fostered mutual understanding and strengthened international cooperation.
Events such as “Sustainable Peace Starts Now with Education” provide a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, partner search, and joint decision-making. ALLATRA IPM and the Creative Society contributed practical proposals to the conference agenda aimed at strengthening international cooperation, protecting rights and freedoms, and integrating climate and environmental issues into educational programs. Their participation was part of the collective effort to develop concrete measures for building a safe, fair, and sustainable world.
