On September 8, 2026, representatives of ALLATRA Italy attended the “Environment and Peace” conference held at the Hotel Excelsior on Venice Lido. The event took place in the Veneto Region’s institutional space as part of the “Cinema & Web” project.

The “Cinema & Web” conference was among the institutional related events held as part of the official program of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, organized by the Venice Biennale. It provided a platform for discussions on cinema, culture, government institutions, and society, as well as environmental protection, peace, and social responsibility.

The event was organized by Fondazione E-Novation and the International Reputation Institute, with Massimo Lucidi, an international journalist and president of Fondazione E-Novation, serving as moderator.

The event brought together representatives of government institutions, the cultural sector, academia, and various professional fields to exchange ideas and perspectives. Particular emphasis was placed on the interplay between cinema, communication, culture, the environment, and peace, as well as the role of culture in shaping societal values and worldviews.

The participation of representatives from diverse fields fostered interdisciplinary dialogue, allowing environmental and social issues to be explored through the lens of culture and audiovisual media.

A central focus of the discussion was the role of cinema in modern society and its power to shape culture and raise awareness of the most pressing issues of our time.

The setting of the International Film Festival gave these themes particular significance. Through powerful imagery and compelling human stories, cinema can go beyond merely reflecting reality, inspiring reflection, fostering empathy, and helping audiences connect with issues that affect society as a whole.

Audiovisual works can shed light on environmental and social issues, portray the consequences of conflict, highlight the relationship between people and the environment, and draw public attention to challenges that often seem distant or too complex to fully understand.

In this way, cinema can play a vital role in raising awareness of environmental change, the need to protect ecosystems, our responsibility to future generations, and the importance of peace.

The ALLATRA Italy media team conducted a series of interviews with event participants, including:

  • Massimo Lucidi—international journalist and president of Fondazione E-Novation;
  • Prof. Stefano Zecchi—philosopher, writer, essayist, and professor emeritus of aesthetics at the University of Milan;
  • Francesco Morra—president of ANCI Campania (National Association of Italian Municipalities) and mayor of Pellezzano;
  • Francesco Mitrano—entrepreneur, founder, and president of the Monte Carlo Polo Federation;
  • Andrea Colla—president of Coldiretti Venice and managing partner of Società Vivai Colla.

During the interviews, conference participants discussed how cinema, culture, and sport can foster peace, sustainable development, and dialogue across society. Particular attention was given to cinema’s ability to raise awareness of conflicts, environmental issues, and social inequality, as well as its power to foster respect for people and the environment through storytelling and emotion.

The conversations also explored how cinema can contribute to regional development and domestic tourism, support emerging talent, and help preserve cultural heritage. A central message that emerged from the interviews was: culture should do more than simply reflect the challenges of today’s world—it should inspire people to dream, recognize opportunities, and strive for positive change.

The dialogue among government institutions, representatives of the cultural sector, professionals, and civil society underscores the importance of creating forums for sharing knowledge, experiences, and diverse perspectives.
