ALLATRA GRC Highlights Nanoplastics Research at Denmark’s Annual Climate Festival, Klimafolkemødet 2026

ALLATRA Global Research Center (GRC) representative, Dr. Karolína Hronová, participated in Klimafolkemødet 2026, held from August 27 to 29 in Middelfart, Denmark.

Klimafolkemødet is Denmark’s annual Climate Festival, bringing together researchers, decision-makers, businesses, organizations, and citizens to exchange perspectives on climate, environmental, and sustainability issues. Through presentations, debates, workshops, and other activities, the festival provides a platform for knowledge sharing, professional exchange, and the development of new partnerships.

ALLATRA GRC representative participated in the festival at the invitation of the partner organization, Creative Society. Over the three-day event, a series of presentations addressing micro- and nanoplastics, their potential impact on human health and the environment, as well as the broader connections between environmental challenges and human well-being were conducted in mutual cooperation.

Dr. Karolína Hronová, a scientist of the ALLATRA GRC Scientific Advisory & Research Council contributed her scientific expertise to the discussions. The presentations drew upon scientific findings presented in ALLATRA GRC’s recent report, “Nanoplastics. A Systematic Risk Analysis for Human Health, Ecosystems, and the Environment.” Key topics included pathways through which micro- and nanoplastics enter the human body, their potential effects on health, their growing presence in natural environments, and their impact on animals, plants, and ecosystems. As part of this dialogue, the report was also introduced to scientists and experts attending the festival. These interactions contributed to raising public awareness of the growing scientific concerns surrounding micro- and nanoplastic pollution and emphasized the importance of continued research and interdisciplinary dialogue on its potential consequences for human health and the environment.

Scientific Exchange and Professional Collaboration

Dr. Karolína Hronová, engaged with researchers, experts, and organizations represented at Klimafolkemødet, including those working in fields related to micro- and nanoplastics, environmental science, climate research, and other adjacent areas.

These exchanges provided an opportunity to discuss current micro- and nanoplastics research directions, share scientific perspectives, and identify areas of mutual interest. New professional connections established during the festival opened opportunities for continued scientific exchange and potential future collaboration.
